Oak Flats High School

Your place to learn and grow

Information Centre (Library)

Information Centre

The Information Centre at Oak Flats High School is a vibrant hub of learning and creativity. During break times, students can enjoy a range of activities, including board games, chess, arts and crafts, trivia, and various workshops that highlight the talents of both students and teachers. It's a place where students can relax, connect with friends, and explore new interests.

During learning time, the library is a dedicated space for academic growth. With the recent refurbishment of our technology area, the Information Centre is regularly used for lessons, providing students with access to a wide variety of resources. Senior students also utilise the space for study periods, dedicating their time to completing assessments and senior study work. A number of distance education students use the Information Centre for their online learning, with subjects currently including Physics, Engineering Studies, Society and Culture, Aboriginal Studies, and Spanish.

The library also offers a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction books for students to enjoy. We are currently setting up a dedicated section for the Renaissance Reading Program, which will run for Year 7 students. Throughout the year, the library hosts a variety of reading competitions, including the Premier’s Reading Challenge, as well as themed events for occasions like Valentine's Day and Halloween. The Information Centre serves as a dynamic space for both learning and personal development, fostering a love for reading and literacy.
