Oak Flats High School

Your place to learn and grow

What we offer

Each school in NSW offers something slightly different depending on the community. Here's what we offer for you.

Canteen

All canteens in NSW public schools must meet certain requirements. These include providing more healthy food and drink options – to make the healthy choice an easy choice for students. Visit Healthy school canteens to learn more.

Fresh Start Canteens run our school canteen.

You will find a variety of tasty and wholesome hot and cold food options.

Open for breakfast, recess and lunch. Breakfast items can be purchased in the mornings until 8:30 am. Lunch orders must be in by 8:30 am.

Cash and eftpos are available. Students must have an eftpos card as mobile phones can't be used at school.

Please feel free to contact the canteen via the school office on 4256 1888 at any time with your questions. Your ideas, suggestions or feedback are always welcome and appreciated.

Uniforms

When students wear a school uniform, they feel included in our school community.

Students, teachers, parents and carers, as well as members of our local community helped develop our school uniform to make sure it:

  • meets the requirements of occupational health and safety, anti-discrimination and equal opportunity legislation

  • includes items that are affordable, comfortable and made from easy-care and easy-wear fabrics

  • is appropriate for the full range of school activities

  • is suitable for all body shapes.

The Colours of our Uniform

Our colours of green, black and white are a reflection of the natural environment surrounding Oak Flats High School. Green is the colour of the foliage on the casuarina trees that line the Lake Illawarra foreshore; it symbolises growth and renewal. Black and white can be seen in the indigenous birdlife – magpies, willie wagtails, magpie larks, pelicans and currawongs – that inhabit our local area.

Our students wear these colours in their uniform as they forge strong links between the heritage of our local community and the space to grow and learn within our school. They are a constant reminder of the personal growth that each student will strive to achieve throughout their journey of school life at Oak Flats High School.
