Year 7 Orientation Day
Our future Year 7 students are encouraged to attend our exciting Year 7 Orientation Day, usually held on the Tuesday of Week 8 in Term 4 the year before they start. The day is packed with engaging activities designed to help students settle in and get a feel for their new school. Students meet their dedicated Year Advisor, who will guide and support them throughout their high school journey to graduation. They also spend time with their Homeroom Teachers, explore the campus, and participate in “get-to-know-you” activities.
Local feeder schools will provide families with details as the date draws near, ensuring everyone has the information they need to attend. Contact us if you have any questions.
Year 7 Motivated Learners Program
At Oak Flats High School, we encourage Year 7 students to aspire, achieve, and succeed by providing opportunities for those who are committed to taking responsibility for their own learning. Our Year 7 Motivated Learners Class is designed for students who demonstrate a positive attitude, good behaviour, excellent class work, and active participation in extra-curricular activities. Students nominate themselves for this program the year before they start and are reviewed each semester to ensure they continue to meet these criteria.
The school supports Motivated Learners by fostering a positive and engaging learning environment, offering extension opportunities such as master classes, workshops, community projects, and competitions. Applications for the Year 7 Motivated Learners Class open in early February and close in late March, with offers notified during May. For more information, please contact Mrs Jodi Tolley (Transition Officer) or Mr Wade Jenkins (Deputy Principal, Inclusion and Support).
Our office staff are here to help, so contact us if you have any questions.
Year 7 Scholarship Program
Oak Flats High School offers scholarships specifically for incoming Year 7 students who demonstrate passion, dedication, and leadership or academic excellence. Scholarships are available in two categories—Student Leadership and Academic Excellence—with four awards in each. Scholarship recipients receive assistance with Year 7 school fees, a book pack, scientific calculator, uniform vouchers, excursion costs, and a recognition certificate.
Student Leadership scholarships recognise students with prior leadership experience, who will also join the Year 7 Student Representative Council (SRC). Academic Excellence scholarships reward students with outstanding primary school achievement and an ongoing commitment to learning, with recipients invited to join the Motivated Learners Class. Applications open in early February and close in late March, with offers notified during May. For further details, contact Ms Angela Byron (Principal), Mr Wade Jenkins, or Ms Jodi Tolley.
