Uniform
Oak Flats High School Uniform – Pride, Safety, and Belonging
At Oak Flats High School, wearing the school uniform is more than just clothing – it’s a way for students to feel connected, confident, and proud of being part of our school community. Uniforms help ensure all students are treated equally, reducing pressure and stress over fashion choices, while supporting a safe environment where staff can easily identify who belongs on campus.
Our school colours – green, black, and white – reflect the natural beauty of the Illawarra. Green represents the foliage of the casuarina trees around Lake Illawarra, while black and white mirror the local birdlife, from magpies to pelicans. When students wear these colours, they carry a piece of our community’s heritage and a reminder of their own growth and learning journey.
Why uniform matters:
- Celebrates equality and inclusion among students.
- Helps maintain a safe and supportive school environment.
- Encourages pride and confidence in students.
- Provides practical, durable clothing designed for learning and school life.
The uniform is required during school hours, while travelling to and from school, and on school excursions (unless stated otherwise). Students can choose from a range of formal and informal options to suit their needs, while remaining within the school policy.
By wearing their uniform with pride and care, students reflect positively on themselves and our school community.
